Parents,
We just want to thank you again for all of your unwavering support these past few weeks. You signed up for 10 weeks of soccer and got sucked into almost 19. We couldn't have asked for a better group of boys to coach - and parents to hang out with. We feel incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to coach your boys in all-stars. We loved every minute of it. Well, every minute except for Kaio's injury last week.
Several players were asked to play defense for the bulk of these tournaments despite being the leading scorers on their teams during the regular season. We are fully aware of the mental shift it took for them to do this and thank them (and you) for working so hard for us in this role with a positive attitude.
To our boys: We are so proud of you, and so are your parents. Two tournaments... two finalist finishes. If you feel disappointed about today, just think about this: All of the hundreds of kids you saw on the field this weekend were already in bed sleeping while you were shooting penalty kicks IN THE RAIN after playing 120 total minutes of soccer today. Their lives are so boring compared to yours!
...
Hunter - Despite being our leading scorer on the Tackleclaws during the regular season, you were somehow also our best defender! Thank you for putting up with Coach Eric and Coach Nicole for such a long season, and thank you for all of your hard work. We still think you are Superman!
...
Thank you also to coach Jason and coach Evans for helping us during the drafting process, during practices and throughout the tournaments. Your input and assistance was hugely appreciated.
Thank you as well for the pizza, hot chocolate and gift cards!
As we type this, our 4 year old boy (Ian) just fell asleep eating a churro at the kitchen table. That pretty much sums it up for all of us, I think. We hope to see you all next year (some in U8 but many in U10).
Happy Holidays!
Eric & Nicole
