Teething again

I cannot sleep...I'm teething again. The first molar is coming through and I just could not fall asleep and cried. I finally went to bed at 11pm with some orajel and after eating some ice cream.

[Ich kann nicht einschlafen. Mein erster Backenzahn kommt und es tut weh. Bin endlich um 23 Uhr ins Bett gegangen nach etwas Eiscreme und Betaeubungsgel auf dem Zahnfleisch.]

36 inches tall

Another visit to the pediatrician: everything is fine. Another shot. I'm 36 inch tall and 29 pounds.

[War heute beim Kinderarzt: alles in Ordnung. Habe wieder eine Impfung bekommen. Ich bin jetzt 90 cm gross und wiege 29 Pfund.]

Taylor update

Another trip to the vet for Taylor: swelling is almost gone but she gets 2 more weeks of antibiotics. Could have been everything... but most likely not cancer as the swelling reacted well to the antibiotics. Re-check in 2 weeks.

[Taylor war heute wieder beim Tierarzt: die Schwellung ist fast weg, aber Taylor bekommt noch 2 Wochen Antibiotika. Ursache kann alles sein, aber wohl nicht Krebs da die Schwellung sehr gut auf die Antibiotika reagiert. Muessen wieder in 2 Wochen hin.]

Last week we noticed a lump in Taylors neck when we came back from Disneyland. She had a double chin and the lymph knot on that side was swollen. Went to the vet the next day for an aspirate of the fluid. The pathology was inconclusive and the normal protocol suggests 10 days of antibiotics before doing a biopsy. It could be everything from allergic reaction, fungi, bacteria, viral infection and cancer. Taylor is perfectly fine otherwise, no fever, nothing. Today is the 5th day of antibiotics and it seems that the swelling decreased :). We hope that it will all go away and is not lymphoma (cancer). Tuesday we go to the vet again.

[Letzte Woche, nachdem wir von Disneyland zurueckgekommen sind, haben wir in Taylor's Nacken einen Knoten gefunden. Sie hatte einen Doppelkinn under der Lymphknoten auf der Seite war angeschwollen. Am naechsten Tag waren wir dann beim Tierarzt der etwas der Fluessigkeit abgesaugt hat. Sie haben nichts in der Fluessigkeit gefunden, konnten aber ein Problem mit der Speicheldruese ausschliessen. Bevor eine Biopsie gemacht wird, bekommt Taylor fuer 10 Tage ein Antibiotikum. Es kann eine allergische Reaktion sein, bakterielle Infektion, Virus oder Lymphoma (Krebs). Heute ist der 5. Tag mit Antibiotikum und die Schwelling ist etwas zurueckgegangen :) Wir hoffen das die Schwellung bald komplett zurueckgeht. Am Dienstag gehen wir wieder zum Tierarzt.]

Food Inc.

Watched the movie Food Inc. yesterday. Very interesting to learn where the beef, chicken and corn are actually coming from. Tomorrow we will check out a local farmer grocery store...

Speech therapist - update

We finally found a good speech therapist (in the dog park) who actually knows what is going on. Since Kaiser does not pay and does not offer appropriate classes, we just pay ourselves. The therapist confirmed that Hunter is concentrating more on the motor skills (due to the tippy toeing) instead of the speech. So we have a set of balance exercises as well as special speech exercises. She estimates that Hunter will improve significantly in the next 3 months. --- He can say banana now too.

[Wir haben endlich eine Sprachtherapeutin gefunden (im Hundepark) die uns besser erklaert hat warum Hunter die Sprachverzoegerung hat. Unsere Krankenversicherung zahlt im Moment nichts (Hunter ist noch zu jung und deren Programme starten spaeter), deshalb zahlen wir selbst. Die Therapeutin hat uns erklaert, dass Hunter sich mehr auf die Grobmotorik konzentriert, da er oft auf zehenspitzen laeuft. Deshalb die Sprachverzoegerung. Wir machen jetzt mit ihm Balanceuebungen und auch spezielle Sprachuebungen. In den naechsten 3 Monaten sollte sich die Sprache sehr verbessern. --- Hunter kann jetzt auch Banane sagen.]

Harddrive problems

We're having problems with our computer harddrive. Need to buy a new one and restore the last backup. So there will be some delay with uploading new pictures from this and next week.

[Wir haben einige Probleme mit der Computerfestplatte. Muessen eine neue kaufen und das letzte Backup wieder hochspielen. Deshalb wird sich der Upload von neuen Bildern etwas verspaeten.]

High chair no more

No high chair any more. I'm a big boy now and sit on the normal chair. At home and also in a restaurant.

[Ich will keinen Kinderstuhl mehr. Ich bin jetzt ein grosser Junge und kann auf einem normalen Stuhl am Tisch sitzen. Zuhause und im Restaurant.]

Happy Birthday - I'm 2 years old now :)

Today is my 2nd birthday. We will go out to lunch and then to a park. Thank you all for the cards and money.

Disneyland, here I come

We drove to Disneyland today with the hope it would not be that crowded (it was a workday - Friday). However, it was TOTALLY cramped. LOOOONG lines. 30+ minutes waiting, even for pictures with a Disney character. They don't have signs or big maps to navigate. Even parking...far away and then we needed to take the tram which does not accommodate strollers.
Some of the rides I went on were way to scary for me...Pinocchio...witches...etc. I held my hand in front of my eyes. Why do they want to scare us little people??? Other rides were better...Alice in Wonderland and the Tiki room with all the birds.
I fell asleep before the fireworks and we got home at midnight, 12 hours after we left.
I heard the California Adventure park is a lot better...

[Wir waren heute im Disneyland Park und hofften, dass es nicht viel los sei (Freitag - normaler Wochentag). Es war aber alles total ueberfuellt, lange Warteschlangen, 30+ Minuten. Sogar fuer Bilder mit den Disney Figuren. Karten und Schilder fehlen. Wir mussten weit weg parken und den Disney Zug nehmen, der kaum Platz fuer den Kinderwagen hat.
Einige der Attraktionen sind gruselig und ich habe meine Haende vor die Augen gehalten: Pinocchio etc. Andere waren besser.
Ich bin dann vor dem Feuerwerk eingeschlafen und wir waren um Mitternacht wieder zuhause - 12 Stunden nachdem wir losfuhren.
Ich habe gehoert, dass der California Adventure Park viel besser ist...

Update on tippy toeing

I saw a specialist today and my tippy toeing is not that bad. I tippy toe only 20 degrees and he suggest to not worry for now as it most likely will go away over time when I see other toddlers walk normal. I can walk flat, so my tendons might be tight, but not too short. I can do some stretching exercises appropriate to my age and should be reminded to walk flat.
He is the orthopedic surgeon, so he has had ~100 cases in 6 months. All the other 'therapists' don't have a clue and no real cases = very limited experience. It's hard to find someone who actually knows they stuff.

[Ich sah heute einen Spezialisten wegen meinem auf den Zehenspitzen laufen und es ist nicht so schlimm wie andere Therapeuten gesagt haben. Ich habe nur eine 20 Grad Neigung und der Orthopedische Chirurg empfielt im Moment nichts zu machen. Es wird von selbst weggehen. Ich kann einige Dehnuebungen machen, meinem Alter entsprechend. Ich kann flach laufen; meine Sehnen sind also nicht zu kurz. Der Chirug hat ueber 100 Falle in 6 Monaten und nur in 5% muss drastischer gehandelt werden.]

65 percentile

I still weight in at 29 pounds, so I get closer to my ideal weight which would be 28 pounds at 2 years. I'm just 1 pound over.

No napping any more

I'm over napping in the afternoon. I have energy for the whole day now. Sorry mom.

Hottub with daddy

Again lots of fun in the hot tub with daddy. We watched humming birds, planes and clouds.

This morning, I watched the Golf channel...and said 'golf' for the first time. Fascinating sport ;)
