Pediatrician, Therapist and Poo

Busy day today. First my parents took me to the occupational therapist for my neck problems. She looked at the process and was very happy. My dad still has to continue the stretching exercises though. :(

Also went to the pediatrician today. I gained weight :) and everything is normal. My parents asked a lot of questions regarding my spitting up and crying at night. The M.D. told them that I'm colicky and also have a lot of gas and pain because of that. They got different formula to try out. Hopefully that helps. I hate crying for 3 hours straight.

I have not pooped for 30 hours....My parents got worried but the pediatrician said that it is normal. Then...still in the office, I pooped a LOT to make a statement :) Now, they are all happy again.

Another long night

Have gas again. I was fine the whole day and slept a lot...maybe because I was screaming for 3 hours straight last night. But at 9pm, it started again. My mom gave me breastmilk instead of formula, hoping that I will have less gas. Not so. It is 1:30 am right now and I just fell asleep after regurgitating my last meal. Not sure if I like the formula. My parents will talk to the pediatrician tomorrow.

Found my thumb

I found my thumb !! I put it into my mouth for a little bit and like it a lot. Will do it again tomorrow.

Gas, lots of it

I'm having a lot of gas problems. Last night I screamed for 3 hours and burped/farted a lot. Not sure if I like the powder version of the formula. We have to figure that out !!

Growing

I'm growing fast. I move my eyes and head a lot to see what is going on around me. I'm still short sighted and cannot see much, but I want to soak everything in. I make a lot more eye contacts too.

Umbilical Cord

My umbilical cord fell off today....according to plan. My navel wasn't bleeding but I cried a little bit.

Nanny leaving

My nanny (Jill's mom) leaves today. She helped taking care of the house, dogs, etc and took care of me at night so my parents can recover and catch up on sleep. I like her a lot :)

Now my parents have to do it on their own. But I trust them. They know what I need.

Smiling

I started to smile. Funny feeling, but I like it....my parents too :)

Getting stronger

My neck and hands are really getting stronger. I can grab somebodies finger with my hand. And I lift my head on my own. I cannot control it yet, but I'm getting more neck muscles.

My Pictures

My dad is shooting a lot of pictures/movies of me. Here are the links:

- Most recent pictures
- Pictures of my birth and stay in the hospital
- Ultrasound pictures during pregnancy (one session was a 4D ultrasound - cool)

Have to go now....daddy is changing my diapers.

Torticollis

Ohhh. I forgot to tell you guys that I have been diagnosed with Torticollis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torticollis). I was a little bit twisted in the womb so my left neck muscle is a little bit shorter. Dad has to do neck stretches 8 times a day which I don't like at all. But I know it is needed. It will completely heal with in the next 3 months.

Sleeping

I've been sleeping a lot. It's eating, pooing, peeing, diaper change, sleeping etc. But I can already smile and make eye contact. It's been fun so far. I love our dogs. They are licking my head and sniffing me. Mom is still in recovery but takes care of me a lot more...and is giving me breast milk. Dad is calming me down when I cry. I now have the 'dijon mustard' poo...according to plan. Jill's mom is taking care of me at night when I'm awake. I still don't know day from night....

Complications

Mom got problems with the small intestines and required a tube through her nose into the stomach. She also got an infection from the long labor and required antibiotics. During that time in the hospital, I was in the nursery and they and dad took care of me. Dad needed to learn fast how to feed me with a finger, tube and syringe, diaper change etc. Every couple of hours I visited mom in her room.

Happy Valentines

Mom gave birth today. After being in the hospital for 1.5 days for the induction, the labor started and lasted another 1.5 days. Mom dilated to 10 centimeters but at the end I could not get my head out. After 1.5 hours of pushing, they did a c-section. I'm 8 lbs, 5oz, 21 inches long.

Super Tuesday

Ok, here are the stats of the last ultrasound and stress test:
  • ~9 pounds
  • Anionic fluid down to 7
  • Zero dilation
  • 50% effaced
  • Minus 1 station (see here for a picture of the stations)

If I don't come out in the next couple of days, my mom will be induced on Tuesday (2/12/08). Appointment already set. That is only a couple of days before my real due date, but since my anionic fluid is getting lower, it is a good idea to get the birth started next week (39th week). This will be SUPER tuesday.

Woche, angesagt. Super Dienstag!]

Dropping lower

The non-stress test showed that I dropped lower into the pelvis. So we are getting closer...

[Der Nicht-Stress Test hat heute gezeigt, dass ich mich weiter nach unten ins Becken bewegt habe. Es ist bald soweit...]
