My first earthquake

My first earthquake. I was at home with mom and the dogs. It was a 5.8 30 miles south of Los Angeles. The dogs got nervous, but I kept cool. It was over in no time.

I have a new thing: I like grabbing your face, your lips, your sunglasses etc. It seems you all enjoy it.

I think my cold is gone now. I don't cough any more and only sneeze once in a while. But I still need the eye drops.

Ich glaube auch, dass meine Erkaeltung fast weg ist. Ich huste nicht mehr und niese nur noch selten. Ich brauche aber noch meine Augentropfen.]

Today...peas

The carrot time is over. Now, I'm eating peas. Not sure if I like peas. They are not as sweet as carrots. But at least my #2 will look normal again (color-wise ;)

Gift of gab?

I noticed that I talk a lot in the evening. Usually, around 7 pm I'm in the walker and talking and talking and talking. Did I get the gift of gab? I must have gotten it from my mom ;)

[Ich habe festgestellt, dass ich abends sehr viel mehr rede. Gewoehnlich um 19 Uhr fange ich an zu reden und zu reden und zu reden. Das muss ich von meiner Mutter geerbt haben ;)]

It's YELLOW !!

I noticed today, that my #2 is yellow. From the carrots I assume. Funny.

Stephen came over

Stephen came over. My mom babysat him yesterday. My dad will upload pictures and videos soon. Otherwise it was a normal day yesterday.

BTW, I also slept through the night yesterday. From 8pm to 7am. Did not wake up :) Seems the vegetables keep me full longer.

[Stephen kam gestern rueber. Meine Mutter musste ihn babysitten. Mein Dad wird Bilder und Videos bald hochladen.

BTW, ich habe gestern die Nacht durchgeschlafen. Von 20 Uhr bis 7 :) Scheint, dass das Gemuese mich laenger satt macht.]

I'm a big boy

I'm a big boy who does not need a pacifier. I never liked the plastic taste. My parents tried several times to introduce it to me, but I did not want to. Big boys don't need pacifiers.

I also reach for the bottle. When I see that it is feeding time and my mom/dad hold the bottle and adjust me, I reach for the bottle and stare at it. I WANT IT !!

[Ich bin ein grosser Junge und brauch keinen Schnuller. Ich habe den Plastikgeschmack nie gemocht. Meine Eltern haben mehrmals versucht mir den Schnuller schmackhaft zu machen, aber ich will ihn nicht. Grosse Jungs brauchen keinen Schnuller.

Ich greife nach der Flasche. Wenn ich meine Mutter/Vater mit der Flasche in der Hand sehe, greife ich nach ihr und starre sie an. ICH WILL DIE FLASCHE !!

My eye is a lot better today, no discharge etc. :)

My cold - update

I'm still not completely over my cold and still have a cough. And I have some discharge in my right eye since yesterday. Nothing red, no fever, just extra discharge. My mom and dad took me to urgent care tonight to have it checked out. Seems that some of the mucus travels from my nose up to my right eye. Man, did not know that there is a connection. Ears are OK. We got some eye drops, one drop 3 times a day for 7 days. That should do it. The cold should slowly go away too. - Later

[Ich habe noch immer eine Erkaeltung mit trockenem Husten. Und seit gestern habe ich Absonderungen im rechten Auge. Das Auge ist nicht rot und ich habe kein Fieber. Meine Eltern haben mich heute abend zur Ambulanz gebracht. Es scheint, dass etwas Schleim aus der Nase hoch in das rechte Auge gewandert ist. Mann, habe nicht gewusst, dass dort eine Verbindung besteht. Ohren sind OK. Wir haben Augentropfen bekommen, ein Tropfen 3 mal taeglich fuer 7 Tage. Das sollte alle sein. Bis spaeter.]

Turning in a circle

On tummy time, I can now rotate my body in a circle. That is the first step towards crawling ! YEAH

[Wenn ich auf der Spielwiese auf dem Bauch liege, kann ich mich jetzt im Kreis drehen. Das ist der erste Schritt zum Kriechen ! YEAH ]

Please hold me !

I need to be held today. I'm still not feeling that well because of the cold and just want to be held.
When daddy came home I smiled and raised my arms....PLEASE pick me up. He did of course.
Later, when he fed me the rice cereal I smiled and giggled so much, that I forgot to eat.

[Ich muss heute viel gehalten werden. Ich fuehle mich noch immer nicht so gut wegen der Erkaeltung und will einfach nur gehalten werden.
Als Daddy nach Hause kam, habe ich ueber mein ganzes Gesicht gelaechelt und meine Arme gehoben...BITTE halte mich. Das hat er natuerlich gemacht.
Spaeter hat er mich dann mit Brei gefuettert und ich habe so viel gelaechelt, dass ich das Essen vergass.]

Pick me up !!

I now raise my arms when I want to be picked up or when I anticipate it. I want people to pick me up, so I hope they pick up on my signs...

Feeling better

I'm feeling better. The cold is almost gone. I slept 12 hours last night without waking up :)

[Ich fuehle mich besser. Die Erkaeltung ist fast weg und ich habe letzte Nacht 12 Stunden am Stueck geschlafen. :) ]

Visit to the therapist

I went to the therapist again yesterday. She said that my development is good. I only have a mild tilt and my neck muscle is mildly tight. That is an improvement :)
Also, my head is more symmetrical. The 'unevenness' is only 0.5 cm. Nobody has a total symmetrical head, so the goal is to be below 0.5 cm. Almost there.

[Ich ware gestern wieder bei der Physiotherapie. Meine Entwicklung ist gut. Mein Nackenmuskel ist nur noch leicht angespannt und die Kopfneigung geht auch zurueck. Super!
Mein Kopf wird auch immer symmetrischer. Die Unebenheit auf einer Kopfseite ging auf 0.5 cm zurueck. Ziel ist unter 0.5 cm. Totale Symmetrie gibt es nicht. Jeder hat eine geringe Unebenheit. ]

Sick :(

I have my first cold. Upchucked all 7 ounces last evening and then I woke up 4 times last night. This morning I had a congested nose...my first cold. I was soooo tired during the day. I fell asleep in the walker.

It is almost 8pm now and I feel a little bit better...no fever



[Ich habe meine erste Erkaeltung. Ich habe gestern abend alle 7 Unzen Milch wieder ausgespien und bin 4 mal in der Nacht aufgewacht. Heute morgen hatte ich dann eine halbzue Nase....meine erste Erkaeltung. Ich war heute soooo muede, dass ich im Gehwagen eingeschlafen bin.

Jetzt ist es fast 20 Uhr und ich fuehle mich etwas besser...kein Fieber]

5 months old - Happy Birthday !

I'm 5 months old. I wanted to walk by now...but I have to postpone that. It is more important for me to put everything into my mouth...by the way...where is my cake?

[Ich bin jetzt 5 Monate alt. Ich wollte eigentlich schon laufen koennen, aber das muss ich verschieben. Es ist fuer mich wichtiger alles in den Mund zu stecken....Wo ist uebrigens meine Torte?]

Fun Fun Fun

This week I have some extra fun. Went to the beach and played with the sand...BTW, I HATE sunscreen. Then I see my grandparents from LA again. They are here for 2 days. I went to a baseball game...what else...hmm. I guess this is it. oh yeah. I also got my last set of shots today at the pediatrician...for a while.

[Diese Woche habe ich extra Spass. Wir waren am Strand und ich habe mit dem Sand gespielt. Uebrigens, ich HASSE die Sonnencreme... Dann sind meine Grosseltern aus Los Angeles fuer 2 Tage hier in San Diego. Wir waren bei einem Baseball Spiel...was sonst noch...Ich glaube, dass ist es fuer den Augenblick. Ahhh. Ich habe heute auch meine letzten Impfungen fuer's erste bekommen.]

Watch out !

I'm more fun every day :) I will stare at you and play 'who smiles first'. I can recognize people and smile at them. I turn my head when mom shouts 'daddy is home'. I try to hug you and squeeze your face or nose. Life is great.

[Jeden Tag bin ich mehr Spass :) Ich starre Dich an und spiele 'wer lacht zuerst'. Ich kann Leute erkennen und laechle sie an. Ich drehe meinen Kopf, wenn Mamma ruft „Vati ist zuhause“. Ich versuche Dich zu umarmen und Dein Gesicht oder Nase zu drucken. Das Leben macht Spass.]

Rice cereal - forget it

I'm getting into the rice cereal. I mean, how to eat it with my mouth. However, the taste is horrible. Like plaster. Tastes like NOTHING.



BTW, no reactions to the shots yesterday :)



Today, 4th of July, we will all go to the Lagoon. It has a short beach. We will have fun with the dogs and bring the umbrella.





[Ich lerne, wie man den Brei mit Mund und Zunge ist. Aber der Geschmack ist schrecklich. Schmeckt wie Kleister...nach garnichts.



Uebrigens, ich habe auf die Impfungen gestern nicht reagiert...kein Fieber.



Heute gehen wir alle zur Lagune. Es ist ja heute Feiertag. Wir werden mit den Hunden am Strand Spass haben.]

I can use my hands and fingers a lot better now. I grab my toys and put them into my mouth. Mmmhhh. I can also almost hold the feeding bottle :)
